Job Summary

The Campus Store is seeking a part-time Computer Service Associate. In this position, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to customers with computer hardware, software, and network-related issues. Your primary duties will include diagnosing and troubleshooting problems, performing repairs and upgrades, and assisting customers with software installations and configurations. You will also be expected to maintain accurate records of service requests and ensure that all customer inquiries are resolved promptly and professionally.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and effective technical assistance to customers via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades on desktops, laptops, printers, and other computer peripherals.
  • Install and configure hardware components such as memory, hard drives, and graphics cards.
  • Assist customers with installing, updating, and configuring operating systems, applications, and drivers.
  • Troubleshoot software compatibility issues and provide guidance on software usage.
  • Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring their needs are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to help customers resolve technical issues independently when possible.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure the quality and consistency of service delivery.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior technicians or management as needed, providing detailed information for further investigation.
  • Stay updated on the latest technology trends, products, and troubleshooting techniques through self-study and training programs.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with team members to improve overall service quality.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah student.

Preferences

Prior experience in computer repair, technical support, or customer service roles is desirable.

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues effectively.

Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems, as well as common productivity software applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to problem-solving.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
