Job Summary
The Hobson Wildenthal Honors College at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks well-qualified lecturers for Archer Fellowship Program undergraduate and graduate courses. Lecturers in the undergraduate and graduate internship course provide professional development instruction and support for students during their internships. Candidates who have professional and/or academic experience in career counseling or in helping job-seekers find private- or public sector employment in DC are preferred.
The undergraduate courses are The Politics of National Memory, The Policymaking Process, Advocacy and Politics, and Internship classes. The graduate courses are the Independent Study and Research and Internship classes.
For the Politics of National Memory course, the undergraduate lecturers are responsible for working with the lead instructor to develop and deliver class lectures and will lead weekly discussion sections and grade weekly written assignments for students assigned to their discussion section.
For the Policymaking Process course, the undergraduate lecturers will collaborate with the lead instructor on class lectures, lead weekly sections in which students role play a member of a House or Senate congressional committee to learn the legislative process. This includes writing briefing memos, conducting legislative research, and preparing for a simulated congressional hearing and bill markup.
In the Advocacy and Politics course, the undergraduates lecturers will collaborate with the lead instructor to deliver instruction on the application of theories of persuasion/influence strategies, interpersonal communication, or advocacy.
For the summer semester graduate Independent Study and Research course, the lecturers advise students in their individual working groups to develop relevant networks and refine specific policy recommendations to present to federal decision makers.
The Hobson Wildenthal Honors College engages faculty to teach, in person, at the Archer Center in Washington, DC. Courses are offered between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. ET and may include lecture and seminar formats, among others.
Review of applicants will begin immediately. Indication of gender and ethnicity for affirmative action statistical purposes is requested as part of the application. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Faculty Records Office prior to the first day of official employment for those applicants selected to teach at the University.
Please note that should you choose to apply for more than one position across departmental lines, you will need to submit a separate application for each position. Applications submitted for this position will be valid through August 2023, at which time all application materials will be archived and new positions will be posted for the new academic year.

For the Politics of National Memory, candidates with professional and/or academic experience in public art, history/memory studies, democratic philosophy, science, constitutional law, or political science are preferred.
