Physical Requirements
This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time, and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to loud noises, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.
Shift
Day shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.); with weekend and holiday rotations.
Job Summary
The Patient Access Services Representative is responsible for providing pre-visit activities for UK HealthCare patients including appointment coordination and scheduling; resolution of patient complaints; collection and verification of demographic information and insurance/payer source information and correction of registration errors; as well as maintain HIPAA compliant and comply with all UKHC polices regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. This position will also participate in unit and Enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety and patient satisfaction.
This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess patient scheduling and health insurance knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; be proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience
Associate degree and at least four years of healthcare customer service experience preferred; previous experience working with patient scheduling highly preferred.
