Job Summary
The Kentucky Geological Survey is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to work on a grant funded project. The project's main deliverables include scanning and cataloging oil and gas documents for use in research, specifically long form e-logs, and large format maps. This position will include identification, labeling, scanning and reorganizing paper documents for online dissemination. Strong applicants will have an interest in data preservation, attention to detail, clear handwriting, and be skilled at identifying minute differences. This position is eligible for healthcare benefits.
This employee will be responsible for a scanning project which will require active attention to detail and organizational skills. This project's tasks will include data entry, document scanning, comparative analysis, and error checking.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Attention to detail, organizational skills, digital organization, document management, research investigative skills, maintaining a filing system, excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills, teamwork, and must have legible handwriting.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
No
Preferred Education/Experience
Associates in Science, Earth Science, Social Science or Library Science, familiarity with geologic nomenclature.
