Job Description:


Empire State University is currently seeking a full-time temporary Senior Front-End Web Developer (State Title: Senior Programmer/Analyst) in the Office of Information Technology Services to support the university's enterprise administrative systems. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Development, this position requires ongoing communication and interaction with professional and support staff distributed across the state of New York. The selected incumbent will be a team player who is curious about new digital technologies as the university aspires to create a positive user experience for employees and students.

Responsibilities include:
  • Employing technical and functional skills to ensure creation and responsive design of web-applications.
  • Writing or leading the charge to write functional requirement documents, guides, and mockups or wireframes.
  • Ensuring university's branding and style guide are applied consistently to all projects.
  • Reviewing and improving programs formulated by lower levels in this series.
  • Developing nonstandard program design and logic features.
  • Providing analysis of complex applications programs and performance requirements and developing program alternatives; and advising users and user groups of the feasibility and design of computer programs or projects.
  • Designing and implementing front-end of relatively complex computer interfaces.
  • Assuming full responsibility for detailed systems analysis projects often involving design and development of subsystems, enhancement of existing systems, and formulation of proposals.
  • Assisting in performance of feasibility studies for the design and development of new systems, requiring sophisticated programming skills; and implementing requested projects to meet user and departmental needs.
  • Performing well in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five years of web development experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years prior work experience as a Front-End Web Developer.
  • Full knowledge with accessibility and WCAG 2.1.
  • Proven expertise with web development tools (CSS, HTML), Content Management Systems, and version control.
  • Ability to lead the writing functional requirement documents, guides, and mockups or wireframes.
  • Proven expertise with UX and UI and an understanding of layout aesthetics.
  • Expertise with one or more frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, ReactJS).
  • Knowledge of PHP or Twig.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with higher education and responsive design.
  • Experience programming in Terminal Four, Omni, or Drupal.
  • Experience with Figma and Git.
Special Information:
  • The first year of this appointment is on a temporary basis.
  • May involve occasional travel.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work.
  • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Additional Information:


Rank/Salary: SL4/ $70,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
