Program Director-Our Bodies Ourselves Today
Who We Are
We're seeking a dynamic and creative candidate to become our next Program Director. Our Bodies Ourselves Today (OBOS Today) is a digital platform, launched in Fall 2022, that provides accurate, trustworthy, life-changing feminist health and sexuality information and resources. Our online platform enables the unique contributions, approaches, and functions of the groundbreaking women's health book Our Bodies, Ourselves to live on, while adding new features and connecting with new audiences across the globe.
Our materials are rigorously evaluated, carefully curated, and regularly updated by panels of leading feminist health experts drawn from fields including medicine, public health, academia, consumer activism, policy, and media. The content and analysis we provide is grounded both in diverse lived experiences and current political and cultural contexts. It is accurate, evidence-based, holistic, user-friendly, and available at no cost. Our nine core topic areas are Contraception & Abortion, Gender-based Violence, Growing Older, Heart Health, Menstruation through Menopause, Mental Health, Pregnancy & Childbirth, Sexual Anatomy, and Sexuality, with new topics to be added in the future. We also feature video stories of, and conversations among, women and gender-expansive people.
Who You Are
You have a passion for womens, and gender-expansive peoples, health and sexuality communication. You are excited by the prospect of using a variety of skill sets to advance the development of a powerful, intersectional feminist resource. You are a highly competent and collaborative problem solver, with the ability to see the big picture while attending to important details. You are good at building and maintaining productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Our Bodies Ourselves Today Program Director will report to the Director of the Center for Womens Health and Human Rights at Suffolk University. They will be responsible for the daily operations of Our Bodies Ourselves Today.
Project Management:
Collaborating with the Executive Director on both long-term projects and day-to-day tasks, participating in strategic planning and program evaluation, developing and executing new womens health initiatives
Providing practical oversight and direction for all areas of operation; developing systems to ensure the most efficient operations
Spearheading, executing, and supervising ongoing communications and outreach efforts to ensure that as many people as possible have access they need to OBOS Today
People Management:
Interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising interns, volunteers, staff, and work-study students on a semester basis. This includes having weekly check-ins with the interns and work-study students alongside staff meetings
Recruiting, managing, and attending monthly meetings of Content Experts for each subject area; serving as point person for Content Experts; collaborating with subject area Chairs to approve monthly resources updates
Planning and convening quarterly meetings of the OBOS Today Leadership Council, and working with the Leadership Council between meetings to maximize their contributions
Interfacing with the Our Bodies Ourselves Board and Founders
Information Management:
Writing, reviewing, proofreading, and executing final copy edits on OBOS Today written material including monthly resources updates, newsletters, correspondence, social media posts, grant applications and reports, and publicity materials
Updating and publishing resources on the Our Bodies Ourselves Today website
Working closely with our web developer to ensure the website is running smoothly and updates are carried out in a timely manner
Overseeing the editing of video/audio for Stories & Conversations
Budget Management:
Monitoring the budget, ensuring that expenditures are in line with available resources, preparing and maintaining project budgets
Supporting fundraising efforts and maintaining the donor database
Marketing and Community Outreach:
Overseeing and managing execution of marketing, branding, and communication strategies, collaborating with staff to refine communication with the goal of increasing exposure, growing followership, and ensuring a strong identity.
Representing OBOS Today to the media and at events
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience in nonprofit program development and management, or comparable experience, in a field such as public health, health communication, public policy/administration, sociology, political science, community advocacy, womens and/or gender studies, or adult education
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, including advanced planning capabilities, organizing staff assignments, prioritizing competing obligations, and ensuring professional obligations are met in a timely fashion
Excellent managerial skills with the ability to establish proper processes and procedures as OBOS Today grows, including ability to build, support, and develop teams
Proven ability to work well across differences in a multiracial, multigenerational, multi-gendered, and otherwise diverse workplace.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information for lay audiences, write reports and white papers, blogs, website content and commentary.
Proven leadership experience in the feminist health communication space or related spaces; knowledge of the field of womens and gender-expansive peoples health and sexuality.
Demonstrated ability to integrate racial and gender justice and power structure analysis into personal practice, campaign/project development and execution, engagement with members, and in managing a staff team.
Preferred Qualifications (any of the following):
Grant writing and management experience
Marketing and/or PR experience
Social media expertise
Knowledge of search engine optimization or search engine marketing
Background in feminist or other social justice advocacy
A demonstrated global perspective
Knowledge of or personal experience with the legacy of Our Bodies Ourselves

Salary Range
$65-$73K/year, plus a comprehensive benefits package
Work Arrangement
This is a full-time, 12-month, salaried position.
Boston-based position with hybrid work schedule: combination of on-campus and remote work.
