Assistant Professor (Tenure Track)

Primary Responsibilities

All tenure track faculty members teach the equivalent of 12 hours per semester and maintain an active scholarly work in their field. This position would include both undergraduate and graduate teaching with the potential to lead the on-site reading clinic.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D./Ed.D. or ABD (degree completed by August 1, 2024) in Reading/Literacy Education or Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Reading/Literacy (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university)
Teaching certification in Reading a plus
Minimum of three years full time, PreK - 6 teaching experience; teaching experience as K-12 reading teacher or literacy coach a plus
Demonstrated commitment to professional development in literacy instruction
Knowledge of national standards and current trends in literacy instruction
Potential for successful teaching at the college/university level
Potential for scholarly work
Experience or knowledge of using technology in instruction, including online teaching
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community

Departmental Information: The College of Heath, and Human Studies at Southeast Missouri State University has an award winning teacher preparation program that is CAEP (formerly NCATE) accredited and approved by the MO Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Department of Elementary, Early, and Special Education department offers undergraduate programs that are recognized by the Association for Childhood International (ACEI), the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
