Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Director, Radiologic Technology Program provides Leadership for the Radiologic Technology and MRI Program. Maintains JRCERT accreditation of the MRT program through ongoing assessment and effectiveness and develops clinical site partnerships. Directs, and manages the didactic and clinical education activities of the MRT program (including continuous program accreditation activities) to ensure the achievement of the program's goals and mission

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Actively participate in budget planning and ordering supplies

2. Advise students in academic matters. Communicate with and advise prospective students and coordinate students' recruitment/program admission activities, which includes information session presentations

3. Analyze MRT program effectiveness for continuous program improvement. Analyze MRT students' academic record for program completion. Coordinate the discipline and dismissal of program students as needed

4. Check all radiographic equipment for any repairs or needed preventive maintenance

5. Coordinate and maintain current MRT advisory committee membership list and document, prepare, and present program progress reports at the semi-annual MRT Advisory Committee meetings.

6. Coordinate monthly review of students' didactic and clinical education records and progress report

7. Coordinate the Medical Radiologic Technology and Computed Tomography programs' activities and provide daily leadership and managerial functions to the students and faculty

8. Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment quality control/quality assurance for safety and radiation protection, in compliance with state and federal regulations

9. Maintain and monitor the expiration of clinical education contracts including seeking and negotiating new clinical education affiliation

10. Maintain appropriate contact with the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and prepare documents to meet all requirements for continuous program accreditation

11. Participate in on/off-campus professional development activities including coordinating students' participation in the professional development activities of LSC-M/CF MRT programs, the Texas Society of Radiologic Technologists (TSRT) Annual Conference, and the Houston Area Radiology Consortium (HARC)

12. Participate in the preparation, management, and monitoring of the MRT department's budget

13. Participate in the recruitment of program's full-time/adjunct faculty, and clinical instructors in addition to serving in the NASH division recruitment search committees

14. Prepare and provide requested program information to the NASH Dean and systems office including conducting ACE, SLO, PLO evaluation and preparing reports for institutional effectiveness in preparation for SACS program assessment

15. Provide leadership in the management and evaluation of the Medical radiologic technology curriculum

16. Teach program courses as needed and prepare MRT graduating students to achieve success in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national credentialing and certification examinations

17. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must inlcude at least 3 years in a manager- or director-level position
  • Two years of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program
  • Three years of clinical experience in radiography
  • Current ARRT and state registration in radiography
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree
  • Certifications in advanced modalities such as MRI, CT, Mammography, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Community College experience
Salary

Hiring salary range is $83,159 - $95,633.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
