To motivate donors to make significant gifts in support of the Dartmouth College Fund while engaging alumni in the life of the College.

Key Accountabilities
Description
Develops and implements cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual prospects and reunion/non-reunion classes based on reviewing, analyzing, and researching prospects to determine capacity, inclination, and interests. Establishes strategy and performance goals in assigned areas and continually monitors progress to ensure goals are met. Establishes and maintains relationships with donors and prospects and implements strategies that lead to short and long-term solicitation, gift commitments, and stewardship. Develops short and long-term plans for solicitation and overall stewardship strategy for individual major donors and works alone or with volunteers or senior officers of the College to cultivate and solicit prospects. Collaborates with Advancement colleagues and volunteers to identify ways for prospects to engage with the College and in the preparation of proposals and materials for major donors in request for funding support of initiatives. Participates in strategy and implementation of marketing programs, including direct mail, advertising, and associated collateral that communicates and advocates the needs of the College. Recruits, trains, manages, and motivates key volunteers while providing strategy and support in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Oversees the collection and management of donor information. Educates young alumni and undergraduates on the important role of philanthropy in the fiscal health of the College and cultivates them to be lifelong donors through strategic and creative marketing and solicitations. Travels as necessary to visit prospects and volunteers, often with institutional officers, and coordinates engagement opportunities for all generations of alumni through events and activities, including visits to campus.

Participates in long-range planning for the department. Manages budgets associated with fundraising activity in a fiscally responsible manner. Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates staff to meet evolving department needs. Develops and maintains strong and effective relationships with colleagues and other networks to remain current with best practices and emerging trends in philanthropy for all alumni generations.

- Four years of experience in a complex college or university development operation
- Ability to work with and command the respect of faculty, senior officers, Trustees, and other high-level volunteers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated presentation abilities

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion
- Understanding of and appreciation for the philanthropic process and individual giving behaviors combined with direct solicitation experience
